I am seeking to build a team of research assistants who will investigate the historical and contemporary desiccation and evaporation of saline lakes around the world. Each student on the team will be responsible for gathering press and other written sources on a particular sea/lake, and everyone will use a shared Zotero database for sources. We will be meeting weekly as a team to provide updates on work progress and share next steps. Students with interests in environment, water, policy, development, climate change, justice, and the lived experience environmental crisis are encouraged to apply. In addition to an English-language researcher, I am looking for at least one student who has reading/translation fluency in each of the following languages: Spanish, Turkish, Persian, and Russian. Students with fluency in these languages will be reading and translating press and other sources into English as part of their weekly work. The English-language researcher(s) will be working on seas/lakes in the American West, so lived experience in that part of the country is welcome.Read more
