Kevin Young, Assistant Professor of Political Science, has published Gridlock: Why Global Cooperation is Failing when We Need It Most. [1] The book is co-authored with David Held (Durham University) and Thomas Hale (University of Oxford).
Gridlock examines why gridlock occurs in a variety of policy areas where global cooperation is needed, including security, economic issues, and the environment. The authors also put forward practical suggestions for how gridlock can be broken to address these important issues.
The book has already received high praise from both scholars and policy makers. For example, Pascal Lamy, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization calls Gridlock "a must-read for those thinking about a better global governance." Anne-Marie Slaughter (Princeton University) calls the book "a great read for policymakers and experts."
