Tarsi receives Fellowships in Presidential Studies

Melinda R. Tarsi, a PhD student in Political Science, has received the 2012 Harry Middleton Fellowship in Presidential Studies.

The fellowship, which was created to support scholarly work in Presidential studies and to recognize the contributions of presidential speechwriter Harry Middleton to the Presidential library system, will allow Tarsi to continue her dissertation research on veteran politics and American social policy.

While a fellow, Tarsi will be able to conduct research at any Presidential library or other facility in the National Archives and Records Administration system, including the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library & Museum in Austin, Texas.

Tarsi is also recipient of the 2012 Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Research Fellowship and the 2012 Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute Research Support Grant. Administered by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, the Schlesinger fellowship provides a research stipend in addition to archival support from the collections of the Kennedy Library. The Roosevelt Grant will enable Tarsi to conduct research at the Roosevelt Library.

Tarsi's archival work on each of these presidents/presidential periods is part of her intradisciplinary dissertation research. To learn more about about her research, click here.
