Elizabeth Sharrow, Assistant Professor of Political Science and History, has been awarded a 2015-2016 research fellowship from the New England Regional Fellowship Consortium, a part of the Massachusetts Historical Society. The award provides a stipend and support for 8 weeks of research in any of the 21 major cultural agencies of the consortium.
Professor Sharrow will use the fellowship to conduct archival research for her forthcoming book on Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972. The book, which uses both quantitative and archival data, explores how political battles over Title IX have shifted social and political understandings of sex and gender. It seeks to develop a better understanding of how policy design, interpretation, and implementation shape the intersections among gender, race, sexuality, class, and physical ability.
