Paul Musgrave, political science, says Chinese students at American colleges and universities could become pawns in the trade war between China and the U.S. He says Chinese students pay full tuition to schools and if they left, colleges and universities would face significant financial difficulties. “There’s been a big shift toward recruiting international students and using international-student tuition dollars to help sustain university and college education. If that were to disappear or even taper sharply, that would be a huge hit to the sector,” Musgrave says. (Washington Times, 7/4/19)
