This year Professor Dean Robinson and Professor Paul Rego have been nominated to receive the Distinguished Teaching Award.
For over thirty years the University of Massachusetts Amherst has conferred a teaching award that recognizes and honors individual excellence -- the campus-wide Distinguished Teaching Award (DTA). Student input is key; only current students and alumni may nominate faculty for this award. The award is highly competitive and prestigious as well. Each year, faculty, graduate, and undergraduate student committees review well over 100 nominations in a two-step process of data collection and analysis prior to selecting three faculty and two teaching assistant awardees. DTAs receive a monetary prize and are recognized at both the Undergraduate and Graduate Commencements.
