Paul Musgrave, political science, writes a column in The Washington Post where he says President Donald J. Trump should close his Twitter account because he is using it to bypass the press and is making policy without consulting with the government establishment that is trained to make careful and considered policy decisions. Musgrave argues that Trump’s use of Twitter reveals that the president has enough power to cause problems but not enough to impose his will on the government or negotiating partners. He also says if the president stops the tweets, it will help him gain credibility even as it strengthens the credibility of the U.S. government. Washington Post
