Opinion: The Future of the GOP Lies in Suppressing the Latino Vote

An opinion piece about President Donald J. Trump’s naming of a presidential commission on election integrity says the effort is intended to ramp up support for policies that result in voter suppression tactics against minorities. The column cites a recent study co-authored by Jesse Rhodes and Brian Schaffner, political science, found that black voter turnout dropped during last November’s presidential election and the sharpest drops, on average, were in states that determined the outcome of the election, including Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
