Peter Haas was a plenary keynote speaker at the Universcience Conference, "the Scholar, the Politician, and the Citizen" in Paris, France on March 11, 2011. Haas' lecture, "Science and Politics," offered lessions about institutional design and practices for scientific management within international relations.
Professor Haas was also an invited speaker at the Séminaire Développement durable et économie de l'environnement at Sciences Po while in Paris.
Haas is professor of political science and a leading expert on the role of science in politics. He is currently working on two book projects: The Evolution of Multilateral Environmental Governance, and Improving Global Environmental Governance. He has been a consultant to the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Commission on Global Governance, and the United Nations Environment Program, and his work has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, German Marshall Fund, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Institute for the Study of World Politics, and the Gallatin Foundation.
