Political Science Professor Peter Haas gave a plenary lecture on "conceptualizing and problematizing" the role of experts at the "Irrelevant, Advisors or Decision-Makers? The Role of ‘Experts’ in International Decision-Making” research seminar at the Erasmus School of Law, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on June 24th-25th, 2011.
The seminar was organized with the goal of discussing the ever increasing role that experts play in many different fields. To that end, it sought “to scrutinize the legitimacy of the ‘expert processes’, from the selection of experts and determining their mandate to the evaluation of the actual outcome of the process”. More information about the invitation-only seminar is available online.
Professor Haas is an expert on environmental governance and has deep interests in many varied aspects of international politics and relations. More information on Professor Haas is available at his department website.
