The Women, Peace and Security cluster of the Human Security Lab will be hosting Professor Sabrina Karim of the Cornell University Department of Government for a virtual event on October 28th at 2:00 pm.
Professor Karim is an expert in peace and conflict studies and especially state building in the aftermath of civil war, security assistance to post-conflict states, gender reforms in peacekeeping and domestic security, and the relationship between gender and violence. She is the Director of Cornell’s Gender and the Security Sector Lab which studies the role of gender in security forces, and particularly its outcome on factors such as use of force, abuse of power, and conflict resolution. Professor Karim’s book (co-authored with Kyle Beardsley), Equal Opportunity Peacekeeping, investigates the impact of gender equality in peacekeeping operations on promoting gender equality in post-conflict states.
