Academic Advisor Contacts and Office Hours
Not sure who to contact? Look at our quick reference guide. It is always a good idea to start with our Peer Advisors! If they cannot help, they can direct you to the right resource.
The primary academic advisors for the Department of Political Science are listed below. To find out their availability, click the "Make an appointment" button and select the service you need. You can always see either advisor, regardless of who you might have met with before, or even if you’ve never met with an advisor previously. Feel free to email your questions as well, but allow a day or two for an electronic response.

Academic advisors can help you understand and meet the requirements for the Political Science Major or Minor, the College of Social & Behavioral Science’s Global Education requirement, and the University’s General Education requirement.
The academic advisors can also explain the Academic Requirements Report (ARR) (and how to access it) so you can make sure that you’re meeting all your requirements.
Advisors grant approval for declaring a major, course overrides, and course withdrawals, and approve transfer and study abroad credits. You can save time with each of these processes by downloading the appropriate form here and filling it out before you meet with the advisor.
The academic advisors are available throughout the academic year. They are busiest during registration in October/November and April, as well as during the add/drop period, but there’s no reason you should wait until those times to see them! Students are strongly encouraged to stop by during the quieter months to get help with Academic Requirements Reports, obtain graduation clearances, or to review study abroad and/or transfer credits.
Students are always welcome to hang out in the student lounge on the second floor of Thompson – in addition to comfy couches and occasional food, there are computers available for brief use connected to registration and meeting your academic requirements.
For more complex situations or approvals the Chief Undergraduate Advisor and the Undergraduate Program Director are available to assist you. The Chief Undergraduate Advisor handles study abroad and transfer credit approvals in tricky situations. The Undergraduate Program Director is the person to see with questions, comments, complaints or recommendations about the undergraduate program.
