Roll Call Voting in the French Third Republic

Research assistants will compile data and conduct analysis on roll call voting in the French Third Republic between 1871 and 1918. The goal of the project is to understand patterns of inter-party cooperation during this period as well as mechanisms of democratization. Familiarity with French is helpful but not necessary. Some experience compiling databases would also be helpful. Students will work individually and as a team to record votes and conduct historical research about parties and representatives. There may also be opportunities for more specialized work depending on the student's level of language proficiency.
