Program Journalist for the Data Analytics and Computational Social Science (DACSS) Program

The Data Analytics and Computational Social Science program focuses on preparing students to work with data (collecting it, analyzing it, and presenting and communicating about it) to support businesses, non-profits, and government agencies in making evidence-based decisions.

We are looking for a Program Journalist, who will work closely with an experienced student Media Manager and under the supervision of Professor Meredith Rolfe (Political Science). The Program Journalist will attend DACSS-sponsored and related events such as Research Brown Bags and Career Workshops and write summaries suitable for posting on the program website’s News and Events page.

Specific tasks may include: - attending DACSS-sponsored events and writing summaries of the events - interviewing event presenters - obtaining background information from presenters - selecting and confirming appropriate quotes from presenters and/or attendees - editing summaries for posting to the program website Some background in computational social sciences would be beneficial but is not required. Strong writing skills and an enthusiasm for journalism is a must.
