Raymond J. La Raja, political science, says Democratic U.S. Sen Elizabeth Warren appears to see an opportunity to seriously consider a run for the White House. Last weekend Warren told a political gathering in Holyoke that she would “take a hard look” at running for president. “I think she has seen that women in the Democratic party … are engaged and enraged, and that is a strong base for her,” he says. La Raja also says Democrats want a candidate who is “a fighter, someone who is compelling emotionally.” (Globe [1], 10/1/18)
La Raja comments in a story about Paul Caccaviello, who will be running as a write-in candidate for district attorney in Berkshire County this November. Caccaviello lost in the Democratic primary to Andrea Harrington but has opted to launch a write-in campaign. La Raja says write-in campaigns are both more difficult and more expensive than traditional political campaigns. (Berkshire Eagle [2], 9/19/18)
