Schaffner, LaRaja and Costa write in The Washington Post’s “Monkey Cage”

Brian Schaffner, Ray La Raja, political science, and Mia Costa, a doctoral student in political science, write in The Washington Post’s “Monkey Cage” blog about some of the findings in the recent UMass Poll. They say they were unable to find a clear division among Republican voters between “establishment” and “outsider” camps. Results of the poll, where they asked voters to name not only their preferred candidate, but also who was their second choice, showed that backers of “outsiders” like Donald Trump, didn’t necessarily list a second choice from that same group and backers of “establishment” candidates like U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz likewise didn’t default to another candidate from that group.
