Rhodes Explains MA Ballot Questions on 22News InFocus

Professor Jesse Rhodes was a featured guest on 22 News inFocus. The episode explored the three ballot questions Massachusetts voters will face in the upcoming November 2012 election: the legalization of medical marijuana, allowing terminally ill adults to obtain drugs to end their lives, and the Right to Repair auto repair bill.

According to Rhodes, although the process by which voters can get a question on a ballot is complex, "if you are successful in getting your measure before the voters, you actually have a fairly decent chance of getting your proposal enacted." Since 1919, he says, there has been almost a 50/50 chance of ballot measures being enacted into law.

Massachusetts is one of twenty-four states which have ballot initiatives.
