Organizers behind the Right to Repair question on the Massachusetts ballots brought in millions more in campaign contributions in recent weeks. “In a case like this, it’s going to be an arms race,” said Ray La Raja, political science. He says that’s especially true for the parties at odds over the “right to repair” question. “They both have deep pockets, and they’re probably going to get some outside money too.” The Massachusetts Right to Repair Committee, which seeks to give independent mechanics more access to telematics data in vehicles, reported $2.9 million in political donations between Oct. 2 and Oct. 15, the last reporting period, campaign finance records show. In the last month, the committee has brought in close to $8.6 million in monetary donations. (MassLive, 10/21/20)
