Although Thanksgiving may seem far away, the UMass Amherst Mock Trial Team is already busy planning its annual Thanksgiving Classic Tournament -- And they need your help!
Political Science and Legal Studies alumni are invited to participate in the tournament as judges. Judges will assess the competitor's overall performance--including argument skills, presentation, and articulation--and help to determine winners for each round. Alums with all types of law backgrounds are encouraged to participate.
Participants will be expected to serve as judges for a minimum of 3 hours (the equivalent of one round) and to attend a brief 30 minute judge orientation prior to their round. Judges do not need to have prior experience with mock trial cases or tournaments.
Organizers expect the Fall 2011 Thanksgiving Classic to bring together 30 teams of competitors and feature 4 rounds of trials. It will kick off on Friday night, November 18, 2011 and run through Sunday, November, 20, 2011.
Those interested in being judges should contact Michelle Goncalves at email@example.com.
