Glen Gordon, former university provost, dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and chair of the political science department, died at the age of 88 on Friday, June 12.
Gordon was born on Nov. 16, 1931 at Unity Hospital, in Brooklyn, NY, the third child of Sylvia and Samuel Gordon. He earned his undergraduate degree from New York University with a major in accounting and soon after, enlisted in the Air Force. Upon finishing his time as an airman, Gordon attended the University of Chicago where he earned a master’s degree and Ph.D. in political science. He met his wife, Nelly, at the University of Chicago.
