A news analysis finds supporters of President Donald Trump are strongly affected by racial animus. When researchers showed Trump backers an image of a white man in a survey about a federal mortgage program, it had much higher support than when they showed a black man. An earlier study done last January by Brian F. Schaffner, Tatishe M. Nteta and Matthew MacWilliams found Trump voters had higher levels of sexism and racism than levels of economic dissatisfaction.
