Funding Opportunities

Overview

A good first step in the pursuit of funding is to visit GrantSearch for Grad Students. There you can read through a FAQ and tips for finding and applying for grants -- including grants for international students, minorities, and women.

Once you identify a grant program for which you'd like to apply, contact Michelle Goncalves. Michelle can help you through the application process.

Graduate Research Initiative Program

The objective of the Graduate Research Initiative Program (GRIP) is to provide modest amounts of competitively allocated research support to Ph.D. students pursuing research agendas that are closely related to the Intra-disciplinary Initiative, which emphasizes research across conventional subfields in political science. GRIP is intended to draw attention to the department’s approach to political science by sending out graduate students with well-polished conference presentation and journal article submissions on cutting-edge initiative topics.

All doctoral students are eligible to apply for the following Initiative activities:

GRIP Conference Grants (Fall and Spring applications)

GRIP Summer Research and Writing Grants (Spring applications only)
