First Instant Issues of 2018 to Feature Laura Reed on North Korea

Dr. Laura Reed of the University of Massachusetts–Amherst Department of Political Science and Legal Studies, will speak at an Instant Issues Brown Bag Lunch event on North Korea. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at noon in the Community Room, One Financial Plaza (1350 Main Street), in Springfield.

A frequent Council speaker, Laura Reed has served as Assistant Director of the Five College Program in Peace and World Security Studies, a Fellow in the Managing the Atom Program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and as a Research Scientist in MIT’s Security Studies Program.  She was Program Officer at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and served as Secretary of the U.S. Pugwash Committee (which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995). She has taught at the University of Massachusetts, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Boston College, and Wellesley College. Her research interests include U.S. national security policy; implications of globalization for peace and security; nuclear security, nonproliferation, and disarmament initiatives; emerging norms of humanitarian intervention and collective responses to transnational problems.
